What is BOPET FILM?
BOPET (Biaxially Oriented Polyethylene Terephthalate) film is a high-performance polyester film stretched in both the machine and transverse directions. This biaxial orientation process gives it superior tensile strength, excellent dimensional stability, and outstanding optical clarity. In packaging, BOPET is widely used as a robust outer printing layer or a key barrier layer within laminates, serving the food, beverage, personal care, and technical industries. Unlike non-oriented PET, BOPET is stiffer, stronger, and maintains stability under high-temperature processes like printing and retorting without shrinking. It is available in crystal-clear grades for gloss and transparency, as well as in metallized or coated variants that provide exceptional oxygen and moisture barrier properties.
BOPET Application
1.Food packaging:Retort Pouches outer layer,Candy Wraps and Metallized Tea Bags.
2.Medical packaging:Moisture Barrier Film for Tablet Packaging,Sterile Medical Device Packaging
3.Industrial Packaging Applications:Cosmetic Boxes,Hot Stamping Film for Gift Bags
4.Reflective Materials:Traffic Signs,Safety Clothing
BOPET VS PET
| Property Dimension | BOPET | PET |
| Mechanical Properties | high tensile strength, stiffness, and tear resistance. | flexible and tough less rigid. |
| Thermal Performance | Excellent. Very low thermal shrinkage | Poor. Prone to shrinkage and deformation when heated. |
| Optical Clarity | Superior. High transparency and surface gloss | Moderate |
| Barrier Properties | Good and Enhanceable. Inherent barrier to gases/ moisture; can be vastly improved by metallizing or coating | Moderate |
